This T-intersection assembly consists of metal stud partitions finished with five-eighths inch gypsum board on both sides. Thermal insulation is installed within the stud cavities. A sealed sheet metal or flexible flashing and air membrane is utilized to maintain a continuous air barrier, except at fire-rated wall assemblies where the continuous gypsum board itself serves as the air and vapor barrier. For two-hour fire-rated assemblies, an additional layer of five-eighths inch gypsum board is required as indicated by the project plans and sections.
