A structural steel connection supports a lower grating grid and metal deck. The assembly features a structural steel beam connected per plan with a typical shear connection, complete with a three-eighths by five by five-inch plate containing a vertical long slot hole for a three-quarter-inch diameter A325 bolt. The bolt is installed finger tight with deformed exposed threads to prevent the nut from loosening. A five-inch hollow structural section support with a deflection slot is welded with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Additional notes permit extending the beam splice plate down one inch and referencing related drawings for further information.
