A steel pipe guardrail and handrail transition assembly is positioned at the interior face of a stair enclosure. The top and bottom rails and posts are constructed from one and a quarter inch nominal pipe size steel pipe. Handrail intersections are radiused typically, maintaining a one and a half inch unobstructed clearance at transitions. A bent closure plate anchors the base of the posts. Vertical dimensions indicate a three-foot guardrail height and a three-foot six-inch overall height.
