The protected zone configuration features buckling restrained braces intersecting a wide-flange beam with a collar assembly. The work point is located at the intersection of the centerlines, with shaded regions indicating the protected zone where welded, bolted, screwed, or shot-in attachments for non-structural elements are strictly prohibited. Any alternate connections to the brace require explicit approval from the engineer and the buckling restrained brace manufacturer. A four-and-a-half-inch dimension is called out typically at both ends of the buckling restrained brace single tube.
