A five-inch outside diameter steel post with a one-quarter-inch wall is hot-dipped galvanized and painted, extending three feet above the finish grade. The post anchors into a reinforced concrete footing that is three feet deep and one foot six inches wide, set below a five-inch concrete slab. Two five-eighth-inch diameter holes are burned or drilled through the post to receive number four reinforcing bars twelve inches long in two places for pullout resistance. An expansion joint surrounds the post where it penetrates the slab and finish grade.
