A 3-inch by 3-inch by 1/4-inch hollow structural section tube is welded to a 1/4-inch by 3-inch by 7-inch steel base plate. The assembly is anchored into the floor slab using two 1/2-inch diameter anchors. The adjacent metal stud is notched to accommodate the plate and is connected to the tube with three 1/8-inch fillet welds spaced at 10 inches on center. An additional connection is provided between the angle and the plate.
