Two-inch board insulation is applied to the underside of the structural steel framing, with board-to-board joints taped continuously. The insulation is secured using ten-gauge stainless steel capacitor discharge weld impalement pins and dome caps installed at a maximum spacing of one foot on the joists. A typical gap of one-eighth to one-quarter inch is maintained between structural members per the structural drawings.
