A shaftwall system features a labelled door frame and a control joint assembly. The shaftwall is constructed with one-inch Type X gypsum board liner panels, sound batt insulation, and two layers of five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board fastened with one-and-five-eighths-inch Type S screws spaced at twelve inches on center into USG steel J-runners. A position indicator box is mounted at the door frame assembly, utilizing full-height gypsum board liner panels. The control joint detail incorporates a half-inch joint sealed with sealant and backed by sound batt insulation between the gypsum layers.
