A one-inch thick gypsum shaft liner is backed by a six by twelve inch minimum twenty-five gauge steel strip centered on the device. This steel strip is installed only behind boxes where face panels are cut and removed. An additional one-inch gypsum liner box protection measuring at least four inches minimum width is applied over the assembly.
