This one-hour rated assembly transitions from an eight-inch concrete masonry unit wall at ten feet above finished floor to a metal stud partition extending to the underside of the deck. The framing consists of three and five-eighths inch, twenty-gauge minimum metal studs spaced at sixteen inches on center. Each side of the metal framing receives one layer of five-eighths inch gypsum board. The gypsum board is aligned flush with the surface of the concrete masonry unit wall below.
