A pipe or duct penetrates a gypsum board partition with a maximum one-half inch gap maintained between the gypsum board edge and the penetrating element. Acoustic blanket insulation fills the partition cavity. Hangers are positioned on each side of the partition to support the penetrating pipe or duct.
