A recessed walk-off mat is set into a 3/4-inch deep pocket within a concrete floor slab and secured with mechanical fasteners. A metal recessed frame edges the mat assembly, maintaining a flush transition to the adjacent linoleum flooring. The maximum height variance at the edge transition is limited to 1/4 inch.
