An exterior wall expansion joint intersects a floor deck with cold-formed metal stud framing and slip tracks at the deflection junction. The backup assembly consists of 5/8-inch exterior gypsum sheathing covered by a fluid-applied air and water barrier, adhesive and basecoat applied to expanded polystyrene insulation boards, and flashing integrated with sheathing fabric. The joint itself is sealed with a backer rod and elastomeric sealant alongside custom flashing and flashing primer. Exterior insulation finish system layers include adhered continuous expanded polystyrene insulation, base coat with reinforcing mesh, and a finish coat.
