This two-hour fire-rated shaft wall assembly utilizes USG steel C-H studs to support one-inch thick Sheetrock gypsum liner panels. The assembly terminates at the adjacent wall structure using a USG steel J-runner, which is secured with fasteners spaced at twenty-four inches on center. A bead of sealant is applied at the junction between the wall and the finish Sheetrock gypsum panel. The system complies with UL #404 and is rated for a maximum span of eight feet eleven inches when using twenty-five gauge studs, or eleven feet eight inches when using twenty gauge studs.
