A half-inch connection plate is welded to the supporting horizontal member using typical fillet welds. Two diagonal braces and a vertical member attach to the gusset plate with bolted connections. Working points establish the intersection alignment for the structural members. Edge distances and spacing dimensions govern the bolt and weld layouts.
