A cold-formed steel backing plate assembly for anchoring handrails, guardrails, door stops, door holders, and base cabinets to metal stud framing. A twenty gauge by six inch runner track is notched around sixteen gauge metal studs and extends three inches beyond one pair of studs spaced at a maximum of sixteen inches on center. Three number ten low profile pan head sheet metal screws secure each stud to the runner track with a maximum one-eighth inch clearance.
