This interior wall expansion joint assembly spans a five-inch gap between two framed gypsum board partitions. A shop-installed Duroflex compressible seismic joint is centered within the opening, flanked by a formed aluminum center plate. Continuous extruded aluminum cover plates are secured to the partition framing using two-inch-wide aluminum anchor clips spaced at eighteen inches on center. The surrounding wall construction consists of metal studs filled with batt insulation, faced with gypsum board and three-quarter-inch plywood where specified, with corner beads finishing the adjacent wall surfaces at the joint interface. One-hour rated partition assemblies occur at the junction as required by the design.
