A recessed electrical box installed within a gypsum wall board partition includes a minimum one-inch clear space around the box filled with loose fiber batt insulation. Acoustical sealant is applied to full depth in one-quarter inch to one-half inch joints around the box perimeter. Open unused knockouts are capped, and a Hilti CP 617 putty pad covers the back of the electrical box to maintain the acoustic rating of the wall.
