A guardrail assembly anchored to a floor slab rises to a height of three feet, six inches with an integrated handrail positioned at three feet. One-inch diameter horizontal space bars are arranged so that a four-inch diameter sphere cannot pass through any opening up to a height of thirty-four inches. The top guardrail element maintains a one-and-a-half-inch spacing from intermediate components.
