A 1-1/4 inch diameter standard steel pipe handrail is mounted to the wall finish with specific clearance dimensions relative to the stair tread nosing. At the bottom of the stair, the handrail extends past the edge of the nosing with a 1-foot plus tread minimum clearance. At the top of the stair, the handrail configuration maintains a 1-foot minimum clearance from the edge of the nosing. Contrasting color and texture nosing is provided at the minimum top and bottom interior landings and at all exterior treads.
