An egress stair guardrail and handrail assembly features a 1 1/2-inch outside diameter steel pipe guardrail and a matching handrail mounted on a bent steel rod support welded to the post. The 1 1/2-inch outside diameter steel pipe guardrail post is welded directly to the top of a metal channel stringer. A 4-inch minimum toe board sits above the concrete stair tread nosing, where the stair tread connection to the stringer is designed per the stair manufacturer. The guardrail maintains a 3-foot 6-inch height with a 2-inch offset to the handrail, while intermediate rails maintain a 4-inch maximum spacing.
