A vertical guard rail post is anchored adjacent to a concrete curb with a one-quarter inch gap and a slope of one-quarter inch per foot. The assembly includes a base plate secured to the concrete slab with anchor bolts. Pavers or walking surface materials sit on adjustable pedestals above the waterproofed structural slab. Insulation is detailed below the concrete slab.
