This transition detail connects a lower gypsum board ceiling to a higher gypsum board ceiling using cold-formed metal studs and ceiling joists. The assembly incorporates a paintable one-quarter-inch acoustic sealant joint and J-mold at the vertical gypsum board face. Framing sizes and spacing are coordinated per the reflected ceiling plan and related detail sheets.
