A maximum 24 inch by 6 inch metal cable tray passes through a framed partition opening with an annular space ranging from 0 inches minimum to 4 inches maximum. The opening is packed with 2 and 1/2 inches thick minimum mineral wool insulation forming material firmly packed inside. A 1 inch thick minimum layer of sealant is applied within the opening, flush with the surface of the wall at both sides. Cables are restricted to fill a maximum of 40 percent of the cross-sectional area of the cable tray in accordance with UL Listing W-L-4011.
