A recessed light fixture weighing up to fifty-five pounds is supported within a suspended acoustical ceiling grid using main runners and cross tees. Twelve-gauge lateral support wires are installed within three inches of each fixture corner and fastened to the existing structure at angles between forty-five and sixty degrees. Fixtures weighing twenty pounds or more require two additional twelve-gauge support wires connected at diagonal corners. Each connection point requires a minimum of three wire turns, with support wires supplied and installed by the ceiling contractor.
