The rootball is set with its crown one inch above the finish grade, surrounded by a three-inch layer of mulch. The planting pit is excavated to twice the size of the rootball into undisturbed native soil with scarified sides and bottom. Backfill consists of an amended soil mix watered in six-inch layers without tamping. Specific plant species are referenced on the planting plan.
