A contraction joint in a concrete ramp slab rests on a six and one-half inch concrete slab over twelve inches of compacted fill at ninety-five percent compaction. The concrete ramp slab is reinforced with number three bars at eighteen inches on center each way. A contraction joint is formed with a depth of one and one-quarter inches minimum or one-fourth of the slab thickness, resting on the structural concrete layer below.
