A cane bolt locking mechanism for a double-leaf steel panel gate is anchored into a concrete slab. A 1/2-inch diameter cane bolt slides vertically through a 1 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch by 1/4-inch galvanized angle guide, which is welded to a 2-inch by 4-inch by 1/4-inch metal angle gate frame. A flat washer is welded to the cane bolt to serve as a stop, and the drop pin engages a 3-inch long by 1-inch diameter pipe sleeve set flush into the top of the concrete slab. The gate frame is braced with 1 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch by 1/4-inch diagonal angles and cross-bracing behind metal panels. All welds are ground smooth, and the entire gate assembly and associated components receive a galvanized steel and paint finish.
