This architectural detail shows the nosing configuration for structural concrete stairs, reinforced with a number three reinforcing bar placed at each tread unless otherwise noted with a six inch minimum dimension. The leading edge incorporates a troweled safety nosing groove with a series of one-quarter inch by one-quarter inch grooves spaced across a two-and-one-quarter inch zone. Each exterior stair tread receives a contrasting troweled groove strip, and the inside of the groove is painted with a contrasting color.
