This architectural detail shows a vertical control joint within an exterior masonry brick veneer assembly designated as EW1. The joint width is maintained at three-eighths of an inch, subject to verification in the field, and is filled with a flexible sealant backed by a compatible backer rod. The brick veneer units are secured with adjustable masonry tie anchors fastened back to the structural substrate. Brick coursing and alignment must be coordinated with the building elevations.
