A solid concrete wall is furred out on each interior side with seven-eighths-inch metal hat channels spaced to support a single layer of five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum wallboard. The furring channels run vertically along the concrete surface to create a cavity for interior finishes. The gypsum board is fastened directly to the metal hat channels on both sides of the concrete wall.
