This horizontal section details a hollow metal door frame intersecting an exterior metal stud wall clad in composite metal panels. The cold-formed steel framing is backed by five-eighths inch exterior gypsum sheathing, a fluid-applied air and vapor barrier, two and a half inches of rigid cavity insulation, and thermally broken z-girts supporting the aluminum composite material wall panel system. The stud cavity is filled with four to six inches minimum of spray-applied closed cell thermal insulation, and the interior is finished with gypsum board. Self-adhered flashing wraps the door opening beneath the exterior layers. A perimeter caulk joint and a one-half inch sealant joint seal the junction between the metal frame and the closure trim.
