W12 steel beams frame into a W27 column utilizing a WT4 shape at the top flange and connection plates welded to the web and flanges of the W27 beam and WT4. A notch plate fits around the W27 flange. Plate thickness, weld size, and bolt configurations are specified per detail 2 on sheet S5.31.
