Cold-formed metal stud partitions receive continuous steel backing plates or track channels for equipment mounting spanning a minimum of two bays. Type A uses a flat steel plate secured to the studs with two number ten by one-half inch sheet metal screws per stud. Type B uses a six-inch by one and one-quarter inch track channel notched and fastened to the studs with three number ten by one-half inch sheet metal screws per stud. Stud flanges remain uncut in both configurations.
