This fire-rated exterior wall assembly features exterior fiber cement cladding mounted over metal Z-clip channels and rigid insulation. The structural backing consists of metal studs faced with three layers of five-eighths-inch gypsum board on each side. An interior partition layer incorporates two layers of three-quarter-inch Type X gypsum board on both sides of one-and-five-eighths-inch studs with interior insulation where required. Channels are painted black throughout, and the assembly complies with California Building Code Table 721.1(2) and Gypsum Association Design No. WP #2930.
