A fire-rated partition wall intersects a non-rated partition wall at a T-junction. The fire-rated wall utilizes a double-stud configuration at the intersection, with the non-rated partition wall framing butting against the face of the rated wall. The assembly is finished with tape and joint compound at all corners, typical. The non-rated partition is secured to the rated partition using number eight sheet metal screws spaced at twenty-four inches on center at each stud, typical. Batt insulation is installed within the wall cavities where indicated.
