A one-and-one-half-inch diameter wood handrail is secured to the wall with a handrail wall bracket spaced at a maximum of four feet on center. Proper anchorage or blocking is provided in the wall as required for structural support. The handrail is positioned thirty-six inches vertically from the typical stair tread nosing, with a two-inch clearance from the wall surface to the center of the rail.
