This interior soffit detail features a dropped gypsum board ceiling assembly constructed with cold-formed metal framing. The ceiling joists and metal studs are framed per structural plans, secured with a continuous metal track fastened by two number ten sheet metal screws at each stud. Top and bottom sheet metal screws fasten the horizontal stud to the track flange typically. The soffit and ceiling surfaces are finished with five-eighths inch painted gypsum board and painted corner beads at exterior corners.
