Partition type P1A consists of three and five-eighths inch metal studs sized per structural requirements, faced on each side with one layer of five-eighths inch gypsum board over full-cavity sound-attenuated mineral wool batt insulation. Partition type P1B uses six-inch metal studs, similarly faced with one layer of gypsum board on each side over full-cavity mineral wool batt insulation. Type X gypsum board is provided at one-hour rated walls to comply with Underwriters Laboratories assembly V438. R-15 batt insulation is specified for the three and five-eighths inch metal stud walls, while R-24 batt insulation is specified for the six-inch metal stud walls.
