A three-eighths-inch or one-half-inch threaded rod penetrates a drilled hole in a rated gypsum board ceiling assembly. The annular space is packed with safing insulation or firehalt sealant. A metal cover plate and nut secure the assembly at the underside of the gypsum board ceiling, while a metal channel supports mechanical or electrical services below.
