An extended shear tab measuring three-eighths of an inch thick connects to the beam web using two three-quarter-inch diameter bolts. A stiffener plate is centered on the beam flange with a thickness equal to the flange thickness plus one-quarter inch minimum and a width equal to the flange width plus one inch unless otherwise noted. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld is applied typically. Complete joint penetration welds with backing are specified at top and bottom typical locations. Grating rests on the assembly per plan.
