The ceiling framing is suspended from the structure above using twelve-gauge vertical hanger wires spaced at four feet on center each way, supplemented by forty-five-degree splayed brace wires. One-and-a-half-inch by sixteen-gauge main runners are spaced at forty-eight inches on center, supporting seven-eighths-inch by twenty-gauge furring channels spaced at sixteen inches on center and saddle-tied with sixteen-gauge wire. A perimeter angle measuring one-and-a-half by one-and-a-half inches by sixteen-gauge is secured to the wall or soffit using number eight sheet metal screws at each stud. A typical J-mold trim is installed at the perimeter, and five-eighths-inch gypsum board is fastened to the underside of the furring channels.
