An HSS 6x6x1/4 hollow structural section column extends through the finish slab into a 24-inch square or round concrete footing to a depth of four feet six inches. Four 1/2-inch diameter by 4-inch long welded stud anchors are welded to the embedded tube within the concrete pier. The top of the embedded column is capped with a closure plate welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld, supporting an upper HSS 4x4x1/4 column.
