A 14-inch by 19-inch valve box houses a remote control valve and an Asahi union ball valve connected via schedule 80 PVC pipe fittings and nipples as required. The assembly connects to a PVC mainline with a schedule 40 PVC tee or ell, schedule 80 PVC nipple, and schedule 40 PVC ell, resting on a minimum 4-inch depth of pea gravel with no soil inside the valve box. The PVC lateral line connects through a schedule 40 PVC male adapter, PVC union, and a lower lateral line with schedule 40 PVC 45-degree ells. Coiled 24-volt wire with wire connectors and a 2 1/4-inch by 2 3/4-inch ID tag are housed within the box. Bricks provide support underneath, and the valve box cover sits level with finish grade or set 1 inch high in shrub areas and 0 inches in turf areas.
