A one-quarter inch steel checker plate tread rests on one and one-quarter inch by one and one-quarter inch by one-eighth inch steel carrier angles. These carrier angles connect to the C8x11.5 stringer channel, positioned adjacent to the C12x20.7 stringer channel. A one-quarter inch gap separates the tread assembly from the adjacent structural member. The tread includes a two-inch safety yellow nosing, with a seven-inch maximum riser height. Detectable warnings are required at the top of unenclosed stair runs per sheet A-008.
