This sound-rated partition assembly uses three-and-five-eighths-inch minimum non-structural metal framing studs spaced at twenty-four inches on center, with thirty-three mil thickness and thirty-three ksi yield strength. Layers of gypsum board are applied to both sides over the metal framing. An acoustic blanket insulation fills the stud cavity, and a minimum one-quarter-inch acoustical joint sealant is applied at the base intersection. The framing accommodates a span limit of fourteen feet for the three-and-five-eighths-inch stud size, supported by acoustic testing reference number CERTAINTEED #NRC-TL-93-324.
