A steel column supports a one-half-inch closure plate across its top. An L4x4x1/4 angle brace is positioned at the deck bearing on each side of the top of the column and extends to the nearest joist or beam. The angles are welded to the column with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on each side. Typical roof deck attachment to the angle is provided per structural drawings.
