Precast concrete pavers are laid with hand-tight swept joints ranging from one-sixteenth to one-eighth inch maximum over a one-inch sand setting bed and a two-inch topping slab. A three-sixteenth by two-and-one-quarter-inch heavy duty aluminum paver restraint is attached to the concrete slab using masonry nails at twelve inches on center minimum. Below the topping slab rests a four-inch concrete base featuring one-inch weep holes at low points and four feet on center, each covered by twelve by twelve-inch squares of filter fabric. The entire assembly bears on a six-inch processed aggregate base over compacted subgrade.
