This double-stud wall assembly achieves a one-hour fire rating and sound transmission control through independent metal stud rows separated by a minimum one-inch clear space. Each side features one layer of gypsum board attached to the metal studs, with acoustical insulation placed within the stud cavities. Lateral stud bracing is provided as required, with strict prohibition of rigid cross bracing between the two stud rows to maintain acoustical separation. The overall wall thickness varies as specified on the architectural floor plan, complying with Underwriters Laboratories design U493.
