An exterior wall control joint assembly features a three-quarter-inch joint gap spanning between adjacent framing sections of three-and-five-eighths-inch metal studs. The exterior face is finished with one-and-a-half-inch exterior insulation and finish system applied over half-inch exterior gypsum sheathing, sealed with sealant and backer rod at the water barrier. The interior framing is lined with five-eighths-inch gypsum board and a continuous vapor retarder, with batt insulation and Therafiber installed within the stud cavity. Spacing of the interior control joints is coordinated directly with the exterior EIFS control joints.
